Homerun Hopefuls strives to foster youth development in the United States and the Dominican Republic through a kids helping kids philosophy.
How Do We Work?
Student volunteers organize collection drives
Driven by our shared love for baseball and softball, Homerun Hopefuls’ American teen volunteers organize collection drives each spring for their local schools, little leagues and travel teams.
Communities come together to contribute equipment and clothing
The communities generously contribute new and gently used baseball and softball equipment and clothing.
Hand-delivered to Dominican youth
Each summer the volunteers have the opportunity to go on an adult-supervised trip to the Dominican Republic to personally distribute the equipment and clothing to underprivileged children in youth leagues and communities throughout the country.
Goals
For our American volunteers, our goal is to create a fun environment for them to cultivate their civic-minded ambitions to make a difference in the lives of others. In the Dominican, we aspire to transform young lives by promoting community and learning, not only through the lessons of baseball that our donated equipment facilitates, but also through our support of continued schooling and education, which together can unlock the dreams and hopes of the young ballplayers we meet every year.
